On the road to Kosma, about 10 km from Leonidion, just below the path leading to the Monastery of Elona, stands a small stone spring, known locally as the Hunters’ Spring.
It is at this point that our trek begins. We follow the cobblestone path that leads to a stream that runs beside cypress trees. From there, we embark on a 75-minute uphill climb which brings us to the Pournaros Plateau, at an altitude of 1000 m. Here we encounter the small church of Saint Demetrios , which stands in a grove of firs and rare cedar trees.
A downhill path from the church leads to the Monastery of Elona, offering an incredible view overlooking the Daphnona gorge along the way. An easy 35-minute descent along a cobblestone path brings us to an old watermill next to the river bed. We continue across the river and make our way back to the small stone Hunters’ Spring, our initial starting point.
